Gaming For Good
Dallas Ingram might work as a forklift operator at Fibertech by day, but by night – and on the weekends – he is a keyboard warrior in the very best way. An avid video game player, it wasn’t until two years ago, with the urging of a friend, that Dallas began streaming his game playing. Shortly thereafter, Dallas became a Twitch affiliate where he could make money through the site’s subscription service, bit program, and donations from viewers. With this in mind, he partnered with Extra Life, a site that allows players to instead pledge to play games while raising funds to help heal kids at local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. In his first year, Dallas raised over $1,000 to fund critical treatments, healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, and charitable care at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. His goal for this 2021? $1,500.
According to Dallas, “When you can help save lives or even just put a smile on someone’s face doing something you love, it’s the best feeling in the world. A word cannot describe it, you just feel it.”
And, Dallas says that he feels it at Fibertech too. As a team member for over two years, he loves the atmosphere and value placed on giving back that he finds daily at work. He said, “Fibertech really strives to help not only their employees but their community as well. I volunteered in a food drive for them last year to give food to families. It makes you feel better about yourself when you help others.”
